If you're a Ford owner, you know the company is dedicated to quality, and that they are not shy about issue recall orders when they discover issues with the design or construction of their vehicles. Recently, a couple of important safety recalls had to be issued for a limited number of North American vehicles to keep them performing at Ford's high standard of excellence.

Loose Steering Wheel Bolts

The first recall affects Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ models whose loose steering bolts could cause the steering column to detach under stress. Affected vehicles:

  • 2014-17 Ford Fusion vehicles built between 8/6/2013 and 2/29/2016 at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant
  • 2014-18 Ford Fusion vehicles built at the Hermosillo plant between 7/25/2013 and 3/5/2018
  • 2014-18 Lincoln MKZ vehicles built at that same plant on those same dates

Select Fusion and Focus Vehicles Have a Clutch Plate Recall

The other recall involves a clutch plate that is prone to fracture and possibly cause a fire in the following vehicles:

  • 2013-16 Ford Focus vehicles with the 1.0L GDTI engine and manual transmission built between 7/21/2014 and 6/30/2016 at the Michigan Assembly Plant
  • 2013-15 Ford Fusion vehicles with the 1.6L GDTI engine and manual transmission built at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant between 3/9/2012 and 6/28/2014
