The Legendary Ford GT40

The Ford GT40 was built between 1964 and 1969 and initially designed for racing purposes. Today, this car is extremely rare. In fact, only 126 of these vehicles have ever been built, meaning it is quite the pricey collectors item. The car originates from the 24 Hours of Le Mans in Frances, the world's oldest active sports car race. Henry Ford II wanted to enter into business negotiations with Ferrari, but after negotiations went sour, Ford was adamant that he must beat Ferrari in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. To do so, Ford designed and built the Ford GT40 to out race Ferrari.

Inspiration for the Ford GT

Based on the Ford GT40, Ford designed a new and improved model between 2004-2006, the Ford GT. This vehicle is truly a collector's item. It is popular among the biggest car fanatics, even though it typically goes for a hefty price. Every dollar spent on the Ford GT is worth it and you'll realize this after a quick test drive behind the steering wheel.
